HMRC gives taxpayers more time to submit their Self Assessment tax returns and pay the tax bill.
On 6th January 2022, HMRC announced that they are waiving their penalties for submissions after the deadline of 31st January 2022, up until 28th February, to help ease pressure that Covid-19 has put on businesses across the UK.
HMRC is still encouraging people who need to complete a Self Assessment to file and pay on time, however they have an additional month without penalties to help people who need it.
Just under 6.5 million people across the UK have already submitted their Self Assessment Tax Return for the year 6th April 2020 to 5th April 2021.
